On Sept. 10, 2020, the State Board of Education approved criteria for California students to earn a new Seal of Civic Engagement, an incentive aimed at encouraging active and ongoing citizenship.
The PACCCRAS Working Group has developed this roadmap with four guiding principles that will help districts provide high-quality civic learning opportunities. The PACCCRAS (Promoting Authentic College, Career, and Civic Readiness Assessments) Working Group is a coalition of districts, universities, and educational advocates, working together to build a network of early adopter districts to help create state capacity towards the seal with resources and best practices.
