Shasta Student Goes From Homeless to Hope

October 1, 2020

Congratulations to ACSA Region 1 Every Student Succeeding winner Brandon Thatcher from Shasta High. Brandon battled homelessness throughout his childhood. He often walked 3 miles to school before educators helped find him a bike. He was also diagnosed with a delay mutational falsetto, meaning his voice did not drop in pitch like most adolescent boys. With little support at home, Brandon found a second family at Shasta High. “I just feel like it doesn’t really make sense to give up on your goals when times are tough because that’s what the rest of life is going to be like. It’s all going to be a big challenge leading up to something great so why don’t you just go all or nothing?”
