LGBTQ teen finds safe space at Rio Americano High

June 25, 2019
Congratulations to Rio Americano graduate Jelan Gentry, who came out at 15, overcame homelessness and decided live life as his truest self. Jelan is the ACSA Region 3 winner of the 2019 ACSA Every Student Succeeding Award. “I feel like I found a very supportive community here at Rio. No matter what I wanted to do. If I wanted to wear nails one day, I could wear that. If I wanted to wear wigs one day, I could do that here.” - Jelan Gentry #WeChooseRio #LGBT #Pride2019 #SacramentoProud
