Student with autism graduates as valedictorian

July 16, 2019
Congratulations to Cory Suzuki in Los Angeles Unified School District who was named class valedictorian this year at Gardena High. Cory was diagnosed with autism at age 4 and overcame many obstacles en route to graduating at the top of his class. Cory is the ACSA Region 16 winner of the 2019 Every Student Succeeding Award and is headed to California State - Long Beach in the fall! “Autism is not something that characterizes people. It’s something that people should embrace. Because people with autism can achieve a lot of things and not that many people do realize that. I’m glad I have it because it’s something that I can use as a strength in life.” -Cory Suzuki
