Finding life after loss

October 23, 2019
There is no good age to lose a parent. Daniel Morozov lost both his father and his mother in the span of just 24 hours. Finding a sense of normalcy would prove challenging. But thanks to the love and support of educators at Pine Grove School in Orcutt Union School District, and a guardian angel in Jesse Gonzalez, Daniel is finding a way to move on from his tragedy. Congratulations to Daniel for winning the ACSA Region 13 Every Student Succeeding award! “I’ve obviously taught many many wonderful children over the years,” Pine Grove School teacher Ron Maderas said. “And Daniel will always be unique based on the fact that we’re attached. We were attached through his tragedy and him forcing me to re-examine the way I teach. Re-examine the way I reach out to children. So Daniel actually helped me to become a better teacher.”
