Gov. Gavin Newsom released Executive Order N-3-22 on January 11 to provide immediate, short-term solutions to address educator shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic and recent Omicron surge. The latest order seeks to provide staffing flexibility for substitute teachers and retired educators and builds on previously issued Executive Orders.
