Districts take measures to inform communities on grading

California public school districts have used a variety of platforms to inform their students, families and communities about changes to their grading systems during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even before a joint statement was released from California State University and University of California systems, as well as the state’s community colleges, districts were considering how to move forward with creating an equitable grading system that held students harmless.

ACSA worked with superintendents from districts in northern, central and southern California to collect examples of how they provided clarity to the grading systems, the cadence of communication and the response from their respective school communities.
